Suffering from hip or groin pain?

Physiotherapy for Hip and Groin Pain

Hip and groin pain can be incredibly frustrating. Whether it’s from an injury, overuse, or long-term wear and tear, discomfort in these areas can limit your mobility, interfere with daily activities, and reduce your quality of life.

Luckily, physiotherapy can help alleviate hip and groin pain without the need for invasive treatments or long recovery times. At Elmwood Physiotherapy Clinic, we specialize in treating these common issues, using a combination of techniques tailored to your specific needs.

Don't suffer with hip or groin pain any longer.

Common Causes of Hip and Groin Pain

The hip and groin area is complex, with numerous muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints that all play a role in movement.

When something goes wrong in this region, it can cause pain that radiates through the hip, pelvis, lower back and sometimes even down the leg.

  • Hip Flexor Strain
Overuse of the hip flexor muscles (which help lift the leg) can lead to tightness, strain, or even tears, often causing pain in the groin or front of the hip.

  • Groin Strain
A pulled or strained muscle in the groin (adductors) can occur from sudden movements or heavy lifting, causing pain and tenderness in the inner thigh area.
  • Osteoarthritis of the Hip
As we age, the cartilage in the hip joint can wear down, leading to osteoarthritis. This causes pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion in the hip joint, especially with activity.

  • Hip Labral Tears
The labrum is the cartilage that helps stabilize the hip joint. A tear can cause deep hip pain, a catching sensation, or stiffness, especially when twisting or rotating the hip.

  • Sports Injuries
Athletes are prone to hip and groin injuries due to repetitive movements, high-impact activities, or sudden directional changes. These injuries are common in sports like football, running, and hockey.
